Small Talk U recognizes and utilizes parents as the most important language and literacy resources for children. Small Talk U offers in-home, family sessions, held at your convenience, in the comfort and familiarity of your own home with you and your child. The Small Talk U program, conceived and written by Eileen Olson, M.A., SLP consists of a series of modules targeting specific skills or skill groups. Each module covers critical developmental content, is based on research from various disciplines, and is individualized to accommodate the needs of each child. All services include an initial parent phone consultation and an extensive case history review followed by five, 1-hour sessions to be completed within a six week time frame. Sessions are scheduled once weekly and cover content modules based on the parent phone consultation and case history review. Our five-week program covers a multitude of topics such as: preverbal communication skills, pragmatic language, use of redundancy and expansion, using “no” effectively, play and language, building phonemic awareness, and print referencing.
