Small Talk U is a consulting company that enhances emerging language and literacy skills proactively in the birth to five-year-old population. Our consulting services are provided via in-home consultations, group consultations, traditional and web based print media. We provide consulting to parents in the home or in small groups, such as father’s groups or mother’s groups. We also act as consultants to teachers both inside and outside of the classroom. Whether providing input regarding specific students in a classroom or providing a seminar for teachers, Small Talk U works collaboratively to build upon existing literacy programs and curriculum.

Small Talk U’s goal is to provide techniques to parents and classroom educators to increase the quantity of language exposure as well as the quality of language exposure provided to children. Small Talk U strives to accomplish this goal using existing materials and resources in the home or school. The Small Talk U program, conceived and written by Eileen Olson, M.A., SLP consists of a series of modules targeting specific skills or skill groups. Each module covers critical developmental content, is based on research from various disciplines, and is individualized to accommodate the needs of each child. The Small Talk U program can be tailored for a seminar presentation and stream-lined for In-Home consultations based on the child’s age and developmental level.
